Why rent in Soho?
The city of London has become so culturally diverse that each borough offers something different and provides a totally unique neighbourhood. As more and more people try to move closer into the centre of our capital, it is becoming apparent that many are trying to rent in Soho specifically. Although houses in Soho aren’t cheap, the varied nightlife, shopping and attractions are bringing people in from all sides of the UK.
Soho, located in London's West End, lends itself to renters given its trendy vibe and fantastic neighbouring districts. Soho doesn’t have a strict area that it inhabits but it is widely understood that it’s approximately in the area that is located within Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Charing Cross Road.
The prime reason people are looking to rent in Soho is because of its fantastic array of bars, clubs, events and shops. The main street, Dean Street, runs between the world famous shopping destination, Oxford Street, and artsy Shaftesbury Avenue – where many of the attractions are housed. From the Soho Theatre at number 21, which hosts everything from bingo to full theatre performances, to the magnificent Indian architecture décor of the Akbar (number 77), Dean Street is one of the most popular places where people are looking for flats in Soho.
Running parallel to Dean Street is Wardour Street. Home to an array of fantastic little shops, Wardour Street offers the opposite of bustling Oxford Street, with the likes of Paul A Young Fine Chocolates and Scribbler’s large selection of trinkets. There is no shortage of bars along here either as Waxy’s Little Sister provides an intimate old-style public house with toned down candle lighting.
Leading off of Wardour Street is Brewer Street, home to the quirky Vintage Magazine Store. Filled with not only vintage magazines but also comics, adverts and posters, this shop highlights the magic of the area and just why nowadays people are looking to live in Soho rather than just visit it. As well as shopping, Brewer Street also has its very own health and beauty spa, Relax.
The southern part of Soho is home to Chinatown, which again is an entirely different world to the other parts of the area. Providing countless numbers of authentic Chinese restaurants and supermarkets, this part ofthe district is rarely quiet. Chinese New Year here is also something not to be missed!
With so much available to do and see, and its stunning central location, flats in Soho come at a price that is totally justified and serve as an investment for years to come.
